I chose to
paint this piece in a black-and-white manner, similar to the style used in
the art for The Godfather movies. I wanted to give the viewers a sense
that Lincoln acted as the godfather of this country during the Civil War, holding it together
and fighting against those who would threaten it. I also chose to paint on
an elongated canvas (12" x 48") to play off the fact that Abraham Lincoln
was an unnaturally tall man for his day. |
